The EMBnet Operational Board is happy to announce that the EMBnet Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2018 will be hosted in Viña del Mar, Chile, November 10 – November 11.
In the occasion of its AGM 2018, EMBnet is proud to celebrate its 30° Anniversary since its foundation as a European Network devoted to serve and support the scientific research in molecular biology, a research domain that has been the key for all the most significant scientific achievements in the fields of the biological and clinical research of these last thirty years.
Thanks to EMBnet’s National Node services, researchers could finally have access to primary databases where the first protein and nucleic acids sequences were stored and catalogued. EMBnet was also the first organisation of its type to provide training at European and then, at a worldwide level, on these resources and on how to use databases and bioinformatics tools available at that time for to query, retrieve, extract and analyse protein and DNA/RNA sequences and data associated with them.
On the overall, the story of EMBnet is the story of Bioinformatics and we will be glad to share with you a few of our memories about this beautiful story, with a short presentation that Erik Bongcam-Rudloff will do during the opening ceremony of the ISCB-LA SoIBio and EMBnet 2018 Conference (https://www.iscb.org/iscb-latinamerica2018/iscb-latinamerica2018-general). The Conference will be held before the EMBnet AGM, that is 5-9 November 2018, at the Universidad Andres Bello inViña del Mar, Chile.
EMBnet is glad to assign to Erik Bongcam-Rudloff this commitment because he was, among all the Chairs that EMBnet has had, the one that most than the others, was able to bring EMBnet to its maximum expansion throughout the world.
As EMBnet Operational Board, we are very proud that this important event for EMBnet is celebrated by offering to our members the opportunity to participate at the ISCB-LA SoIBio EMBnet conference 2018.
For this occasion, EMBnet is also collaborating to the organisation of the Pre-Conference Workshops, Tutorials, and Mini-Courses, that will be held at the Universidad Andres Bello in Vina Del Mar (Quillota 890, Viña del Mar, Región de Valparaíso, Chile), 5-7 November 2018.
