BMC Bioinformatics Special Issue: EMBnet Conference 2008

Participants of the EMBnet Conference 2008 submitting an abstract have the possibility to be chosen for submitting a full paper in a BMC Bioinformatics academic supplement dedicated to the conference.

Among all the abstracts submitted the conference scientific committee will choose between 10 to 15 high profile abstracts.

To cover the costs of this conference supplement EMBnet levies an article-processing charge for every accepted article.

All academic supplements to BioMed Central's journals are:

  1. free to access online eliminating barriers of registration/payment to view articles
  2. listed in PubMed, Google Scholar and other citation databases increasing visibility via major reference resources
  3. archived in PubMed Central guaranteeing the permanency of publication on the Internet

The supplement will be published as a full text version and a fully formatted PDF version on the journal's website.

IMPORTANT DATES

Abstract submission deadline: 30 June 2008
Notification of authors: 30 July 2008
Full paper due: 15 October 2008

HOW TO APPLY

Authors who want to apply for a paper submission have to submit their abstract using the conference abstract submission form available from the conference web site.

Submission are particularly encouraged from those people developing and/or applying new bioinformatics methods and tools in the following research areas:

  • Genomics
  • Transcriptomics
  • Proteomics
  • Molecular structure prediction, modelling and dynamic
  • System Biology
  • Biobanks (databases and knowledgebases)
  • Next generation sequencing: applications and case studies
  • Text and data mining
  • Biological data integration
  • Ontologies
  • Grid technologies and Web Services
  • Molecular biodiversity and DNA barcode
  • Metagenomics
  • Training and e-Learning

At least one of the authors has to register at the conference, preferably the corresponding author.

Each author can candidate at most for one manuscript submission, or two manuscripts if one of them is in collaboration with another group.

The abstracts submitted will be selected for a full paper submission on the basis of novelty, technical relevance, quality, clarity of presentation and objective analysis of the reported experiences.  Proposal for high-profile survey papers could be also considered for publication.
