IB09 Introductory Bioinformatics
Overview: The course sets out to introduce an extensive range of computing facilities vital for molecular biological research. This will be acheived primarily through "hands on" exercises based around an investigation of a well documented human disease. How information can be obtained both by analysis of raw sequence data and by interrogation of information resources will be demonstrated.

BITS 2009 - Sixth Annual Meeting of the Italian Bioinformatics Society - First Announcement and Preliminary Call for Papers
The Sixth Annual Meeting of the Bioinformatics Italian Society (BITS 2009) aims at presenting
some of the hottest bioinformatics achievements, as well as a landscape of Italian bioinformatics
research. It is also intended to allow young researchers to present their work in a collaborative
and supporting atmosphere.
BITS 2009 will include keynote lectures, oral communications, posters presentations and
tutorials. Social activities will include a welcome reception, a guided tour of the historical city
Joint EMBL/Genomatix Workshop on mRNA-Seq and ChIP-Seq Comprehensive Methods for Next Generation Sequencing Data Analysis
The large amounts of data derived from next generation sequencing
projects makes efficient data mining strategies necessary. In the
course you will learn strategies for the analysis of mRNA-Seq data as
well analysis pipelines for ChIP-Seq. These strategies include
• high efficiency mapping of raw sequence tags
• clustering of sequence tags
• data integration into up to date genome annotation
• down stream analysis of tag covered regions.
The
course is based on real world examples. We will show the possibilities
