Tutorial on "GRID Computing"

The Institute for Biomedical Technologies (ITB) and the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) in Bari, in collaboration with EMBnet have organized a tutorial on the use of GRID computing for life science applications.

The tutorial  included presentations, hands-on and demos. The demos have been run for the whole conference time under the supervision of  tutorial teachers and available to all conference participants.

  

The tutorial programme includes an introductory lecture and presentations on:

• authenticated Grid access with robot certificates
• the Grid Problem Solving Environment for Bioinformatics: the LIBI experience
• Managing Biological Databases in Grid: the GRelC Experience
• the LIBI federated database and the DDQB application
• the GENIUS Grid Portal, an INFN portal to access the EGEE grid infrastructure (application examples)
• the AntiHunter application
• the Job Submission Tool (JST)
• CSTminer and Gene Analogue Finder applications 
• microarray clusters validation with resampling techniques

Venue

The tutorial took place at the Park Hotel San Michele in Martina Franca (TA) on September 17, 2008, in parallel with the EMBnet Annual General Meeting (AGM),  and has been hold by a panel of National and International experts in the field.
