The structure of the organization

The EMBnet Stichting

EMBnet is a group of collaborating nodes in Europe and the rest of the world. It is organized as a foundation called 'The EMBnet Stichting', registered in The Netherlands. The Annual General Meeting (AGM), where each national or node representative has an equal vote, is the main decision making body of EMBnet. Associated nodes are not allowed to vote.

Executive Board

EMBnet is managed by a four-member Executive Board (EB) that is elected by the AGM. The EB effects the decisions of the AGM, deals with funding, and generally takes care of the organization between AGMs.

Project Committees

The activities of EMBnet are run by four-member Project Committees (PCs), elected by the AGM:

The quarterly EMBnet newsletter, embnet.news, is prepared by a six-member editorial board.

Funding

The EMBnet Stichting is funded by: the European Commission (ERBBIO4CT960030) the European Commission (QLRI-CT-2001-01363) and membership fees.

The individual nodes are funded locally.
