Abstract submission & topics

The abstract submission deadline has been extended to September 28th, 2009.


The Organizing and Scientific Committees invite authors to submit abstracts for the EMBnet Conference, following the instructions clearly indicated in the "Abstract submission Guidelines" page.

The conference is open to submissions in all areas of bioinformatics (such as genomics, proteomics, trancriptomics, metagenomics, data and text-mining, ontologies, education and e-learning tools available in Bioinformatics, among others), although the main topics for this conference will be:

  • High Throughput Technologies;
  • The Interface of Bioinformatics and Systems Biology and
  • Open Software for Bioinformatics;

Abstracts can only be submitted on-line. Mailed or faxed abstracts will not be accepted.

Authors should use our on-line proposal submission system, (in order to be able to submit, authors should create an account on our Conference System. If you already have an account, then just: log-in; select the EMBnet-RIBio 2009 conference; and click on "Proposal submission".

Abstracts will be reviewed and rated by the Scientific Committee that will propose to the Organising Committee the selections of abstracts for oral or poster presentation. The Organising Committee reserves the right to refuse contributions that are not up to the required scientific standards of the conference.

Presenting authors will receive information on the status of their abstract (accepted -rejected) within October 5th, 2009, together with the notification for poster or oral presentation.

For each abstract accepted, at least the present­ing author needs to register within the required time frame.

Additionally, selected papers will be reviewed and published on the "EMBnet.news 15.4" (EMBnet.news is a quarterly publication devoted to research, projects, events, news and announcements related with the bioinformatics, biomedical and in general to the "bio-" and "omics-" communities & industry all-over the world).
