Professor Sander is an international leader and founder of the area of bioinformatics worlwide. He has trained a large number of current professors of bioinformatics in Europe, and contributed to the advance of several areas in bioinformatics from protein modeling to pathway modeling and cancer research. Currently Chair of the Computational Biology Center at the Sloan-Kettering Institute, with joint appointments at Cornell and Columbia.
