Workshop on Collaborative Bioinformatics
EMBnet Annual General Meeting
RIB Annual General Meeting

An international workshop on collaborative Bioinformatics will be held in Torremolinos, Malaga (Spain) during 11 th -13 th of June 2007 in coordination with the Annual General Meetings of the European Molecular Biology Network (EMBnet) and the Iberoamerican Bioinformatics Network (RIBIO).

The workshop will present major scientific endeavours in four main Bioinformatics areas, with specific emphasis on their collaborative aspects and on building up prospective ties and collaborations between the participants.

WORKSHOP PROGRAM

Starting on June, 11 th in the afternoon, specific sessions will take place addressing current advances and opportunities for collaboration in major areas, with a final, informal closing session being devoted to general analysis and discussion of the topics presented taking place in the afternoon of June 13th.

  • Computational genomics and evolution (sequence analysis, multiple alignment and evolution)
  • Structural bioinformatics (structural biology, 3D-modelling and docking and computer assisted drug design)
  • Databases and Systems biology
  • Training in Bioinformatics
  • Discussion session

The workshop will be organized by joint committees composed of lead scientists selected by both organizations. The official language for all presentations will be English. Presentations will be broadcast by videoconference for their widest diffusion.

Poster sessions will be associated with the workshop for interested participants to expose their scientific undertakings and interests. A voting will be drawn among the assistants to elect the best poster presentations.

ON-LINE Abstract Submission

On-line abstract submission is now open:
http://rib.cecalc.ula.ve/envio_trabajos.html until April 15th, 2007.
Acceptance notification will be communicated on April 30th, 2007.

RIB Annual General Meeting

The morning of June 11th the Iberoamerican Bioinformatics Network (Red Iberoamericana de Bioinformática, RIBIO) will celebrate its Annual General Meeting in a session exclusively open to all its members.

EMBnet Annual General Meeting

June 14th in the morning will start the Annual General Meeting of the European Molecular Biology Network (EMBnet), in a session exclusively open to all its members.

Social events

Gala dinner: A gala dinner will be celebrated with all participants from both networks and the workshop

EMBnet ethnic party

The traditional, open EMBnet ethnic party is an event where all assistants are invited to bring in some foods or drinks typical of their countries and share them in a friendly intercultural exchange.

Location and venue

The AGMs of both networks and the Bioinformatics Workshop will take place at Hotel Sol Don Pablo, a four star hotel with excellent meeting and leisure facilities, located by the sea in the small, touristic town of Torremolinos on the Sun Coast in the south Spain, close to Malaga International Airport.
